DE// Also, ich bin jetzt in Israel. Ich werde 8 Monate lang als Freiwillige arbeiten bei ALUT - The Israeli Society for Autistic Children. ALUT organisiert in erster Linie Wohngruppen für Autisten und hat Einrichtungen überall in Israel. Ich arbeite im Haus Leah Rabin in Cholon, einer Stadt die südlich an Tel Aviv grenzt. Das Haus ist nach der Frau Yitzhak Rabins benannt, die die Organisation sehr unterstützte und damit maßgeblich zu ihrem heutigen Erfolg beitrug.
Aber fangen wir von vorne an. Ich bin am Sonntag, 28.08., nach einer knapp 14-stündigen Flugverbindung um 3 Uhr morgens in Tel Aviv gelandet und wurde von dort nach Haifa zum Vorbereitungsseminar gebracht. Dort habe ich dann erstmal ein paar Stunden geschlafen, das Seminar selbst fing am Sonntagabend an. Viele der anderen Freiwilligen da waren auch vom DRK und einige kannte ich auch schon vom Seminar in Deutschland. Es kamen viele Leute zu uns, die uns etwas über die verschiedensten Dinge erzählten - über die deutsch-israelischen Beziehungen (ein besonders interessanter und eindrucksvoller Vortrag, vielleicht komme ich darauf auch nochmal in einem anderen Post zurück), über ALUT, die Arbeit mit Autisten und Menschen mit Behinderungen, über Israel und den Nahen Osten, über die Erfahrungen einer Mutter eines autistischen Kindes, über eine ganz besondere Musiktherapie - und ein kleines bisschen Hebräisch-Unterricht hatten wir sogar auch schon! Die Abende hatten wir meist frei und konnten uns dann Haifa auf eigene Faust schon mal angucken, an einem Abend hatten wir eine Führung "Haifa bei Nacht" vorbei an den Baha'i-Gärten und runter zum deutschen Viertel. Das Seminar ging bis Donnerstag Nachmittag, dann wurden wir zu unseren Projekten gebracht - in meinem Fall eine anderthalbstündige Fahrt nach Cholon. Hier teile ich mir eine Wohnung mit 4 anderen Freiwilligen, die ich auch schon vom Seminar aus Deutschland kenne und mit denen ich mich sehr gut verstehe. Aber über die WG und meine Arbeit hier schreibe ich ein anderes Mal - jetzt kommen erstmal die Bilder von der Haifa-bei-Nacht-Tour und damit leila tov von mir!

I work at house Leah Rabin in Holon, a city that borders on Tel Aviv in the south. The house is named after Yitzhak Rabin's wife who supported the organisation a lot and thus helped it to become as successful as it is today.
But let's start in the beginning. On sunday, August 28th, i arrived in Tel Aviv after an almost 14-hours-long flight connection and was brought to our first seminar in Haifa. The first thing I did there was sleep for a couple of hours, the seminar itself started in the evening. A lot of the other volunteers there were also from the German Red Cross and some of them I even already knew from the seminar in Germany. There were a lot of different people coming and talking to us about plenty of topics - about the relations between Israel and Germany (this was particularly interesting and impressive, i might come back to that in another post), about ALUT, working with autistic people or people with disabilities, about Israel and the Middle East, the experiences of a mother of an autistic child, a special music therapy - and we even had some Hebrew lessons already! Normally we only had workshops and presentations till the afternoon, so in the evening we could explore Haifa by ourselves a little bit. One night we had a guided tour "Haifa at night" along the Baha'i Gardens and down to the former German colony. The seminar went on until Thursday afternoon and we were then brought to our projects - in my case an one and a half hours drive to Cholon. Here I'm sharing an apartment with 4 other volonteers who I also already know from the seminar in Germany and get along with really well. But I'll write about the apartment and my work here another time - now here's the pictures from the Haifa at night tour. Leila tov!
